    Weekly Menu || Vol.004

    It has been a very long time since I last wrote a weekly menu.  I make one every week for our family, leaving me with little excuse for not posting it here like I’ve wanted.  Writing it here gives me an archive to look through without having the clutter of keeping it in a notebook.  It can also inspire others if they happen to come across it. Anyway, I think it is time for more consistency and today is my attempt for just that. Just one note before I list it.  I’ve been preparing less time consuming meals lately.  I’ve been a little burnt out with elaborate recipes and meals,…

    Organize It

    Well over a year ago, I was reading a post by Grace on Camp Patton, (which is sadly no longer in the blog world) and while giving a bathroom tour she mentioned how her husband mocked her for buying her spiffy necklace organizer because he could have made it for cheap. He was right!  When I saw it, I knew I could replicate it in 30 minutes.  BUT I didn’t get around to going through with the idea until I sat on my bed one day, untangling my necklaces for the 100th time.  Enough being enough, I sent Scout and Rori into the woods to find me the perfect stick. …

    It Figures + Urban Sketch

    On July 16th, my morning started early.  I had a lot to do and needed to be out of the house with kids in tow by 8.  Being the morning hater that I am, I woke up especially early (6:15am) and do what most adults do to get themselves perky.  I made a bee line for the beloved coffee pot and with one eye barely open, I moved through the motions of prepping the machine.  When I tried to pour the coffee into the filter, nothing came out of my empty canister.  {{Palm to forehead}} Slight panic ensued and I told Bubba (who was already dressed and ready for the…

    Almost Finished

    Wowza! It has been nearly six weeks since I’ve posted anything magical (insert eye roll) on this blog and the first time I’m going to pop back, I’m going to write about knitting (again) for Ginny’s yarn along link up.  I’ve actually thought about closing this blog down, but I ultimately decided not to.  Once upon a time, during the blog boom, I had loftier ambitions for this space, but now I look at it as my trusty companion that holds a few memories or thoughts for myself that I would forget otherwise. I also want to confess that I am utterly addicted right now to YouTube.  Seriously.  I can’t…

    Apple Cedar Rust

    I didn’t even know this was an actual thing before planting an apple tree.  I thought trees were simple.  You plant them and let them do their thing. But, like with every other plant, there is something that can attack it.  In my case it’s the apple cedar rust. If you remember from this post, I planted my apples from seeds.  I simply gathered the seeds from my organic apple that I had eaten.  I let the seeds sit in the fridge for about three weeks to make them think they went through winter.  After letting them sprout I planted them into small cups.  I’ve since transplanted them into pots. …
